The OPJC is a landmark of Brooklyn, the first synagogue ever built on Ocean Parkway. In the 1950s, it provided services to over 1300 members. Today, the OPJC is a small, but warm congregation, led by Rabbi Robert Blustein of West Hempstead. The kiddush on Shabbos morning includes divrei Torah and a sit down light meal, as well as thoughtful discussion on current topics in the Jewish world. The Sisterhood and new programs committee begin activity in 2011-12 with movie and music nights, Torah lectures, events for women, and a new kosher internet cafe.
